A New Perspective on Tight Play

TAG style, that is Tight Aggressive, is the style adopted and played by most beginning and intermediate poker players, but today we’re going to take a look at the tight style of casino play without the aggression and see how effective it is against various opponents. There are two styles of tight play, tight aggressive, and tight passive online poker . Your tight aggressive player will make moves in the right position with less than premium hands and will play his hands that are premium hard and fast under the gun. On the opposite end of the spectrum you have your tight passive players. Players who limp in with good cards but refuse to play them aggressively. They like to limp in with good hands just hoping to catch a piece. The next identifier of a weak tight player is, again, a lack of aggressiveness, in the event they do raise preflop with a hand like big slick or KQ suited, they tend to check it down to the river if they miss the flop. You can take advantage of this by betting them off their missed hands. The third identifier is that weak tight players fold often at aggression. So If you can watch a player long enough to judge them as weak tight or tight passive, you may be able to exploit their playing style by playing back at them with weaker hands or straight out bluffing. But be wary if they do play back at you, you can almost bet they’re holding a monster if not the nuts, and you should proceed with caution from that point.
